UTG launches ‘Urban Transport Next’ - a new series of lunchtime conversations on the future beyond COVID

Press release

Urban Transport Group (UTG) has launched the first in a series of free online lunch-hour conversations to explore the future of urban transport as we begin to look beyond the COVID-19 pandemic and tackle the climate emergency.

Designed to stimulate and inspire, the ‘Urban Transport Next’ events will see leading figures in urban transport discuss potential opportunities, challenges and strategies for the coming months and years.

The series launches with ‘The revolution will not be motorized…’, taking place on Thursday 26th November from 1pm, featuring Dame Sarah Storey, Sheffield City Region Active Travel Commissioner and Ben Still, MD of West Yorkshire Combined Authority (and UTG active travel lead) in conversation with Xavier Brice, CEO of active travel charity, Sustrans.

Open for registrations now, the event will explore the future of active travel in our metro areas, what needs to change, and how we can bring about a real revolution in the way we move around our cities.

UTG Director Jonathan Bray said:

‘The impact of a once in century pandemic and the ongoing climate crisis gives us both the responsibility and the opportunity to think through and act upon strategies for urban transport which will be equal to the challenges we face.

As part of this mission we are launching a series of ‘urban transport next’ lunchtime conversations with leading urban transport figures. These hour-long events are free to take part in and will also offer the opportunity for participants to contribute directly to the discussion around where next for urban transport. We want to be the place where the thinking happens about the future of urban transport and we are very much looking forward to being able to host this series of exciting events.’

Registration details for ‘The revolution will not be motorized…’ can be found here.
