Pedro Abrantes moves on from the Urban Transport Group
After seven years as Urban Transport Group's Economist, and now Senior Economist, Pedro Abrantes, is taking up a new role as Principal Economist for Highways England (from 12th June).
Jonathan Bray, Director of the Urban Transport Group, said:
'Pedro has made a terrific contribution to the work of the Urban Transport Group. His ability to get to the heart of complex economic issues quickly, and to explain them clearly, is second to none. His enthusiasm for new ideas and fresh thinking combined with academic rigour and an appreciation of the need to win the arguments that will result in more transport improvements being delivered on the ground has also helped propel the Urban Transport Group forward in terms of both our reputation and our credibility. We will miss him but we wish him well in his new role at Highways England. A new challenge but one that we are sure he will be more than equal to.'
Pedro Abrantes said:
‘It’s been a real pleasure and privilege working at this unique organisation. I have especially enjoyed collaborating with so many dedicated and knowledgeable people from our members, at the UTG central team, and across government and the third sector. I think we have helped change transport for the better and I’m sure the Urban Transport Group will achieve far more in the years to come.’
The Urban Transport Group is not currently advertising for a new Senior Economist post but applications close on 2nd June for the role of Assistant Director. Follow this link to find out more about the role.
