Case studies: delivering local partnerships on England’s railways

Rail partnerships guide - case studies front cover

Across England there are many existing projects and initiatives being delivered in partnership between places and the railway that are creating improved local outcomes through investment in transport initiatives.

This document, which complements the Practitioner’s Guide for building partnerships, concentrates on a selection of seven case studies which showcase local projects. They have been chosen to reflect the diverse range of projects that partnerships are delivering, from individual stations to whole programmes of work.

These case studies show that there is not a one-size-fits-all approach to partnership or to the kinds of projects that can be worked on together. Effective partnerships will always be the product of open and transparent dialogue between places and the railway.

This is the first issue of case studies and more will be added as further examples of partnership are captured.

This collection of case studies has been developed in close partnership with Shadow Great British Railways partners and the members of the Urban Transport Group (UTG), the UK’s network of transport authorities.
