In this episode, Lord Hendy, Minister of State for Rail, was in conversation with Jason Prince, Director of the Urban Transport Group.

During the discussion, Lord Hendy spoke about his experience in the House of Lords; the Railways Bill and what benefits GBR will bring for passengers; and devolution and the role for local areas in the railways. The pair also discussed light rail's role as part of integrated transport systems, the importance of learning from the international transport community and their favourite bus routes.

About Lord Hendy

Lord Hendy of Richmond Hill CBE was appointed Minister of State for Rail at the Department for Transport in July 2024. He was created a life peer in November 2022.

He was Chair of Network Rail from 2015 to 2024, and prior to that was London Transport Commissioner from 2006 to 2015. Whilst working for Transport for London, he sat on the Urban Transport Group Board of Directors, and was also President of UITP (the International Association of Public Transport) from 2013-15.
