In May 2026, a Mass Transit Taskforce was established by government to tackle the barriers to the delivery of mass transit systems across the UK.

The taskforce will work independently and is led by Chair Bridget Rosewell CBE.

The Urban Transport Group has been appointed as secretariat for the taskforce, lending administration and technical support. 

The taskforce includes leading experts from the world of transport, industry, finance and academia. Confirmed members include:

• Jason Prince, Director of the Urban Transport Group
• David Milner, Managing Director of Create Streets
• Richard de Cani, Chief Officer for Global Business and Markets at Arup
