Next steps on planning better bus networks

Press release

pteg has commissioned transport consultants Steer Davies Gleave to undertake the first phase of work on a new planning model for costing the options for improving city region bus networks.

The aim of the model is to allow PTEs to test the costs and benefits of a range of incremental improvements to bus networks – including higher quality, newer vehicles, frequency enhancements and fares initiatives.

Neil Scales, Director General of Merseytravel, takes the lead on bus issues for pteg:

‘This model will help us to ensure that our plans to improve bus networks are cost effective and robust. It will help us to deliver our bus strategies and to get the best from the new powers and options that Putting Passengers First provides.’
